I find the work they are doing in Texas quite inspiring. This is how learning in the 21st century should look like. It really does force us to teach differently and technology facilitates that. Technology doesn't necessarily mean students will be directing their own learning though, we have to change how our classrooms are run and then the infusion of technology will help.
Working with students and meeting them where they are is essential.
I find that during library classes, I am able to engage students when we are collectively focused on locating Internet information and when I allow them to use their own mobile devices to do the searching.
The connection between the technology and project-based learning is powerful. I am looking forward to doing more of that with students. I need some planning time with classroom teachers, and more computers &/or digital devices in the library.
Again the school district can support teachers by providing students with more computer access, and by allowing/supporting the BYOD concept. Teachers need more information about project-based learning, creating rubrics and using computers in new and innovative ways. We all have to see ourselves as learners.
