What Khan speaks about here, specifically the part where students work at their own pace until they master what they are learning, requires training. I am finding that my 6th and 8th graders, many of them, struggle with the freedom and autonomy that comes with being able to work at your own pace. They aren't used to it and therefore are lost without direct instruction from me. I think we've trained them well, unfortunately, we are training them as we were trained instead of preparing them for their futures.
I like that someone can articulate what I already think. His presentation was easy to understand and I hope it inspires more teachers in the classroom and those of us that are teachers in the world.
